This Privacy Policy describes how TheUmatter ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use TruckMend — our truck repair and roadside assistance mobile application and platform, for both drivers and service providers (mechanics).
TruckMend is a product developed and operated by TheUmatter, an information technology company providing customized business solutions and software products. Our contact for privacy matters is privacy@theumatter.com.
By downloading the TruckMend app, creating an account, or using our services as either a driver or a mechanic, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.
When you create a TruckMend account (driver or mechanic), we collect:
For every service request completed through TruckMend, we collect and log:
Location data is central to how TruckMend works. We are transparent about exactly when and how we collect it.
When you submit a breakdown request, we collect your device's GPS location to identify your position and match you with nearby mechanics. You must grant location permission in your device settings to use this feature. We do not collect your location in the background when you are not actively using the app.
When mechanics are actively on duty and available to accept jobs, TruckMend collects their real-time location to show accurate ETAs and match them with nearby requests. Mechanics can toggle their availability off at any time, which stops location collection. We do not track mechanic location outside of active duty status.
Service call locations are stored as part of the job record for the duration of data retention. We do not build persistent location profiles or movement histories beyond what is necessary for your service records and compliance logs.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.
When you are matched with a mechanic, you will see their first name, profile photo, service ratings, certifications, vehicle, and real-time location on the map. Full personal details (such as their home address or bank information) are never disclosed to drivers.
When a mechanic accepts a job, they see the driver's first name, breakdown location, vehicle type, and reported issue. The driver's full personal information (such as home address or payment details) is not disclosed to mechanics.
If you are part of a fleet, your fleet manager may have access to your vehicle's breakdown history, active service calls, and repair logs as part of their fleet dashboard. This is disclosed at account creation and is necessary for the fleet management features of TruckMend.
We share data only in these limited and necessary circumstances:
We work with third-party vendors for payment processing, cloud hosting, push notification delivery, SMS/email communications, and background check services. All vendors are bound by data processing agreements that restrict their use of your data.
As described in Section 5, limited information is shared between drivers and mechanics only as necessary to complete a service call. This sharing is core to the product's function.
We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or third parties. We will notify affected users where legally permitted to do so.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user data may be transferred to the successor entity. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a new privacy policy.
We may share aggregated, de-identified data (such as industry-level breakdown statistics or regional demand trends) with partners or in public reports. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.
We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, we remove your personal data within 90 days, except where retention is required for legal, tax, regulatory, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Service call records, including repair history and transaction logs, are retained for 36 months to support DOT compliance, insurance claims, and warranty matters. You may request a copy of your records at any time during this period.
Background check data for mechanics is handled according to the terms of our background check provider and applicable employment laws.
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
To exercise your rights, email privacy@theumatter.com or visit your in-app account settings. We will respond within 30 days.
TruckMend is intended for use by adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has created an account, we will promptly delete their information and close the account. If you have reason to believe a minor has used TruckMend, contact us at privacy@theumatter.com.
We protect your data with industry-standard security measures, including:
In the event of a security incident affecting your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law, including the specific data involved and steps you should take to protect yourself.
We may update this Privacy Policy as TruckMend evolves. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via in-app notification and email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of TruckMend after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Non-material changes (such as clarifications, typo corrections, or formatting updates) may be made without advance notice. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
